One day and one addendum later

I would be amiss if I did not add to my example from yesterday the stunningly obvious and far more pertinent example of the use of leather and canvas in classic luggage.  I would say that the use of these two material to make classic bags, trunks, etc. is a far more fair a representation of why I have chosen the name of this blog and why I feel that it represents the style I will from here on out attempt to describe.

One detail above them all that stands out on a quality piece of luggage is the use of a rolled leather handle.  This is as definitive of classic luggage design as any and simply sets a tone of quality and simplicity.  The image below show the type of handle I am talking about, along with a doctors bag opening, the use of bridal leather straps, and brass fittings, and all from a top notch manufacturer.

I have also realized that this picture does not provide any scale, thus this bag might look like a purse, but it is in fact a piece of luggage, suitable for a weekend trip, or simply for laundry day, if one could be so lucky as to use this for such.
